Ann’s Story

Ann marries Robert Leslie and moves to the south of the Shetland Islands, where she raises nine children in a two-room, stone “crofthouse.” She faces one loss after another. Sometimes the mist is so thick she can’t see her way through. But, as Robert says, “Things have a way of working out,” and Ann finds a community of Methodists on the island, who support her and help her develop her faith in God to carry her through whatever comes.

You will imagine the unique trials of living in the 1800s in the Shetland Islands, and perhaps Ann’s story will become your story when you identify with universal life challenges we all face today.
